During the summer, plants and bushes may have been allowed to play around the outdoor unit. Cut this off and remove leaves and other debris. To achieve maximum energy savings and comfort, the heat pump must be allowed to breathe.
Avoid auto mode Check that the heat pump is set to only provide heat.
It can be easy to forget this if you have used the heat pump to cool during the summer. Never set it to "auto mode"! This is because if you suddenly "fire" extra with the stoves/fireplace, the heat pump may sense that it is too hot and start cooling.
Clean the filters on the indoor unit. It is recommended to clean the filters about every two weeks, all year round. (You will eventually learn what the correct interval is in your home.)If they are full of dust, the heat pump will function poorly and make more noise than necessary. When the pump has to work "harder", the lifespan of the pump can also be shortened.
